Today, we have a massive update for you!

It includes our EA Launch Date Trailer, a Gamescom Demo Shadow Drop, featuring sharp archery and cozy nomad camping, as well as another insight into breeding and Horse Genetics, rounded off by photos from our Gamescom Booth.

Our EA Launch Date Trailer premiered yesterday on the Future Games Show! We are proud to have been part of it and even more excited that we can now share it with you, now that the embargo has ended. Gamescom Demo Shadow Drop

This is a big one!

As you already know from our last update, we will be at gamescom this week with a playable demo in Hall 8.1 at Booth C-014.

What you don’t know is that we worked extra shifts to provide you with the very same gamescom demo, right here, right now!

The gamescom demo features a short 15-30 minute quest, along with new mechanics such as Archery, Nomad Camping, and an updated Breeding Stable.

Even better: we’ve removed the 15-minute timer from the original gamescom version (which was used to manage crowds at the show), so this is the best possible version, exclusive for our backers :)

Archery is finally here: on foot, and on horseback!

No matter how you spend your summer vacation: camping, glamping or virtual camping, we definitely welcome you to try out our cozy Nomad Camping.

Gamescom Demo: How to Access via Steam

You can play the gamescom demo by opting into a Beta Branch in Steam:

• Right click on the Windstorm - The Legend of Khiimori - Playtest game in your steam library
• Select “Properties...”
• Select the tab “Betas“
• Enter this code “KDvDKbN62QrBmxFi3Wmz2YiFfjHyHgjyHXSnHcQpvo” into the input field called “Enter beta access code” and press “Check Code”
• Then select the “demo” beta in the dropdown above. Once you have selected this beta branch, the demo version will download. Your savegames should be fine.
• To switch back to the main game, select the “None” beta branch, which will re-download the original game. Again, your savegames should not be affected.

Please note:

• The demo version will only provide a “Play Demo” button in the main menu. You will not be able to load or save a savegame, and your save files from the main game won’t be overwritten.
• The demo version does not feature any generated or daily missions, only the new demo mission.

Gamescom Booth

We already had many visitors at our Mongolian-themed booth on day one yesterday, including influencers, press, politicians, and most importantly, gamers!

Next to the virtual Future Games Show we were also part of the FYNG Show from GameStar, live on stage.

Thanks to our partnership with Mifcom (www.mifcom.eu), we are also giving away two custom-built, high-end Windstorm Gaming PCs featuring our Keyart.One will be raffled off at the event, the second one will be available through an online giveaway later on, sostay tuned via the social media channels below.

We are also pleased to welcome a special guest to our booth: Zolzaya Boldbaatar, a talented musician from the traditional Mongolian band Khukh Mongol. Zolzaya plays the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), and has made a beautiful contribution to the soundtrack of Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori. Catch him performing live during our gameplay sessions on Wednesday and Thursday for a unique experience!

Breeding

Breeding is also available in the Gamescom demo, and since it's one of the hottest topics among our community, we released an in-depth TikTok video about our genetics system the other day. 1st Gameplay Trailer & Great News!

Dear Backers,

We have some great news for you today: “We are going to gamescom!”.

Yes, Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori will be playable at gamescom in Cologne this year, from Wednesday 20th to Sunday 24th of August. Visit us in Hall 8.1 at Booth C-014 and we will be there to welcome you!

Alpha Playtest Update Coming Soon

Another major update is planned to go live tomorrow at the latest. Once live you can expect:

• Some nice content updates, such as a resized map with improved foliage and improved lighting as well as the mysterious, weathered desert ruins.
• The build has been further improved, for example with new and reworked animations.
• Multiples bugfixes have been implemented, as we are constantly updating and polishing the build.
• Finally, a subtle, new feature that we internally call “Glorious Riding” has been added: just wait and see what happens when our Courier Rider Naraa rides through 13th Century Mongolia at full speed.

Early Access in Fall 2025

We know that many of you can’t wait to play the game in Early Access, and we are just as excited as you are! However, the launch of the Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store has been moved by a few months from Summer 2025 to Fall 2025. The BackerKit Survey will also take place sometime before we go into Early Access.

The reasons are that we want to include some of the new features and ideas from the Kickstarter as well as make sure that the start of the Early Access will be an enjoyable experience for all players.

Also, our current Alpha Playtest shows that some of you have important feedback which we want to address and fix beforehand.

We hope for your understanding and thank you for your patience!

Alpha Playtest: Major Update

Dear Backers,

As promised, we are constantly updating our Alpha Playtest with new content and bug fixes. A major update just happened today!

Alpha Playtest Update

The update already went live and the new version will download automatically when accessing the game on Steam. So, what changed?

• Most importantly, the Save Games are fully working, mission progression is now properly stored.
• We made over 100 smaller fixes such as certain bugs and glitches.
• Content wise we have, for example, beautified the canyon area, including the Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall for you to enjoy :)

We hope you will revisit 13th century Mongolia soon or maybe even try our Alpha Playtest for the first time!

Climbing Mountains

Dear Backers,

Developing a game sometimes feels like climbing a mountain. It's both rewarding and exhausting at the same time. While most days feel like a steady hike in the sun, every now and then, you hit a patch of rocky terrain that slows you down just a bit.

One of these unexpected turns are the tariffs that affect our strategy for the physical rewards. While this will not have any impact on the cargo and delivery for you, for us it means that we need to slightly adjust the route and that the survey will arrive later than expected.

Alpha Playtest Feedback

We hope you are enjoying the Alpha Playtest and as promised we will have updates and fixes to improve the experience and get as much feedback and ideas from you as possible :)

If you haven't found time to participate in our Alpha Playtest yet, it will last for several more weeks and we would love to welcome you to 13th century Mongolia!

As stated above, due to the challenging situation of tariffs, the planned BackerKit Survey will be delayed once again until June/July. No need to worry, this will not affect your rewards in any way, we simply allow ourselves more time to set things up properly.
