The Corruption Update Is Out Now!

Hello Everyone!
The day has arrived, and corruption has made its way to 13th century Mongolia as the curse of Savdag Un Khor spreads across the land! Or, translated, we’ve just released the Corruption update to you all, and you can play it now! What's more the game will be on sale starting this evening!
This update has gone through multiple iterations, and we want to thank all of our beta players for the feedback they’ve given throughout the process, as it’s helped to shape this release!
This update introduces several new features:
Corruption: A dark infestation spreads across the land, corrupting its people. Corruption serves as the main antagonistic force in The Legend of Khiimori – an ever-growing blight that slowly consumes Mongolia's beautiful landscapes. After completing the main tutorial, the corruption awakens. You must actively push it back using every tool at your disposal.
Character Survival Mechanics: Your character now has food and water needs with survival recipes and items you can use.
New Horse Breed: The Breton: Tame the mighty Breton, it is the tallest and heaviest breed in the game. Available at the horse merchant and discoverable in the wild.
We’ll dig a little deeper into the features below, but we also want to take this opportunity to point out that there are a whole host of balance changes, bug fixes and crash fixes included in this patch as well – please don’t forget to report any issues you run into, either with the F1 tool in game, or on our Discord or Steam discussion threads!
Corruption:
Once you've completed the tutorial, the Corruption caused by Savdag Un Khor will begin to spread throughout the world. Corrupted regions appear dynamically over time, bringing new dangers in the form of hostile spirits, corrupted wildlife, and mysterious rifts that taint the surrounding land.
When you discover a corrupted area, it's up to you whether to deal with it immediately or return later. Cleansing Corruption requires the proper tools and offerings, and successfully purging a region restores it to its natural state, making travel through the area safer once again.
Corruption also introduces new opportunities for resource gathering. Defeating corrupted areas can reward you with unique materials and new crafting components, giving you fresh recipes and reasons to seek out these dangerous regions.
Corruption is an ongoing world system rather than a one-time event. Cleansed regions may eventually become vulnerable again, encouraging you to venture back out into the world and protect the lands you've reclaimed.
For players who prefer a more relaxed experience, Corruption can also be adjusted or disabled in the game settings, allowing you to tailor the experience to your preferred playstyle.
Character Survival Mechanics:
A new layer of survival has been added to The Legend of Khiimori. Up until now, you’ve only had to worry about keeping your horse fed and watered, and Naraa has merely been an avatar to do that. Now, you’ll need to keep an eye on her hunger and thirst, adding something else you’ll need to plan for when you set out on a long expedition.
Food and water are now essentials to consider before setting out on a journey, as if you don’t keep up with them, your character will begin to lose health, and, eventually, she’ll pass out and it’ll be a game over, and you’ll need to load from a previous save.
As with the Corruption mechanic, for those of you who want a more relaxed, cozy experience, you can turn off the survival mechanics or tailor them to your preference!
The Breton:
The mighty Breton has arrived in The Legend of Khiimori! The Breton is the largest horse breed in the game, and stands taller, weighs more and can become the strongest horse in your stable!
The Breton is a type of horse known as Draft Horse, horses known for their strength and steady temperament. You can find them both in the Horse Merchant’s stock as well as in herds out in the wild, and as with all our horses, you’ll be able to breed them for different stats and effects!
The Breton will also produce twice as much animal dung as other breeds, so if you need to craft a bunch of animal repellent, then you might want to do a trip or two on a Breton!
Now, without further ado, here are the full (chonky) patch notes:
🆕 New Features
Corruption – Savdag-un Khor. The poisoning of the earth.
A dark infestation spreads across the land, corrupting its people. Corruption serves as the main antagonistic force in The Legend of Khiimori – an ever-growing blight that slowly consumes Mongolia's beautiful landscapes. After completing the main tutorial, the corruption awakens. You must actively push it back using every tool at your disposal.
Corruption Strands – Corrupted ground appears across the map. Corruption tutorial begins once you first get close. Corrupted ground prevents your horse from galloping, adding to the challenge of corrupted zones.
Corrupted Enemies – The Rifts also corrupt the animals around them, making them into twisted, more aggressive versions of their natural form.
Cleansing Tools – New Lancer Arrow, Warding Totem, Cleansing Arrows and Pouches to fight corruption. Basic cleansing items are available after completing the corruption tutorial and in merchant offers.
Waystation Protection – Completing a cargo or collect mission for a connected waystation (or clearing all spirits around a disconnected one) shields it from corruption for a while.
Corrupted Items – Corrupted Elixirs, Arrows, and Training Boosters which will unlock as you Level up.
Corruption Intro Cutscene – A new cinematic introduces the corruption through Altani's conversation.
Settings – A new setting lets you disable or tune survival and corruption features for a more relaxed experience. The corruption tutorial does not trigger when the feature is turned off.
Character Survival
Player character now has food and water needs with survival recipes and items usable, some of which can be eaten by both the Player and the Horse.
Gnarl Combat
A new combat encounter lurks at the corruption's edge. You'll need to stay mobile, read its attack patterns, and find the right moment to strike its weak point from horseback. Choosing the right ammo matters. Defeating a Gnarl pushes the corruption back and may yield rare resources.
The Gnarl only appears after completing the corruption tutorial.
Difficulty Settings
A new difficulty selection screen has been added to the new game settings. Includes ‘Custom’ mode in which you can tune the game’s settings to your preference.
Gameplay options have been reorganized into clearer categories, with Peaceful Mode now located under difficulty settings.
🐴 Horses & Breeding
New Breed: Breton Horse
New breed – a draft-type horse called a Breton. It is the tallest and heaviest breed in the game. Available at the horse merchant and discoverable in the wild.
Merchants & Selection
Horse Merchants now sell randomized horses instead of predefined ones.
Horse quality at merchants scales with your Prestige Level – non-Mongolian breeds only appear from Prestige Level 6 onwards.
Wild and merchant horses now share the same coat color generation.
Training & Progression
Tripled the training speed for all attributes.
Increased the duration of Training Powder and Corrupted Training Boosters.
Improved balance skill gain from riding down slopes.
A high-spirit horse is better equipped to handle the corrupted ground.
Fixes
Fixed horse attributes being reset to 1 on save load when the horse had enough stats to unlock skills.
Fixed fainted horses that couldn't be revived and stabled horses unable to jump.
Fixed tamed wild horses having all stats set to zero.
Fixed wild horses never spawning as pure breeds; fixed wild Akhal Teke horses.
Reduced the chance of wild horses getting stuck on cliffs.
Fixed horses stumbling / breaking legs when going uphill.
Fixed horse merchant previews showing a default icon instead of the actual horse.
Fixed NPC horses hovering when spawning without ground below them.
Fixed leg hair coloring on horses.
Fixed tethering a horse at Jochi Camp causing it to climb walls.
Fixed breeding blessing item requirements ignoring items from saddlebags.
Fixed foals sometimes being generated with the same name as one of their parents.
Fixed stat increase/decrease arrows being too small.
Fixed stretched stamina bar in the horse overview.
Fixed squished icons in the stable management navigation bar.
The game now pauses in the Horse Merchant screen.
Slightly rebalanced the Starter Horse.
Fixed the taming UI not appearing when starting a new taming attempt immediately.
🎒 Items, Inventory & Crafting
New item-usage screen: pick a target and amount with projected status previews before using an item.
Fixed being unable to split item stacks when using a controller.
Fixed a crash when moving stacked items in the inventory.
Saddlebags can now only be bought, not crafted.
Players can now find human food items in random loot chests around ruins.
Fixed a specific ammo box not being lootable due to a false "No space in inventory" message.
🏪 Merchants & Economy
Merchants now sell fewer items at lower Prestige Levels and offer a smaller, more thematically focused selection based on their class.
Merchants now sell food and new items where appropriate.
Prices rebalanced across the board to better reflect crafting inputs.
Rabbits now always drop meat; bears and wolves are less likely to drop hide.
Herders and Shamans now sell milk.
Removed the Horseman's Tonic from the Bandit Cache loot table.
Added the Warding Totem to the Prestige Progression.
📜 Missions & Progression
New games started without the tutorial now grant Courier Rank 2.
Steles can now be found at ruins.
Significantly reduced save-game size by no longer storing completed/failed generated missions.
Fixed being able to accept the same supply mission from an NPC multiple times.
Fixed quests not being trackable or abandonable from the map view.
Fixed accepted mission proposals becoming invalid, causing missions to break.
Fixed unused mission conversation options not being removed.
Fixed saves where cargo missions were blocked by missing cargo items.
Fixed wild animals attacking players in shelters or save zones.
Fixed the Save Point at Takhia Village not activating.
⚠️ Known Issues
The minimap does not always update correctly.
After picking up certain items you may be unable to gallop – dismounting and remounting resolves it.
Unable to Destroy Inventory Items - controller players are missing the destroy-item input entirely. Keyboard & Mouse players need to manually assign the Destroy action in keybindings before it works. We're aware and working on a fix.
Workarounds:
Sell unwanted items at any merchant
Put unwanted items into the chest at the camp
If you have a recipe using the item, craft with it to clear it from your inventory
Again, we’d like to thank everyone who gave us feedback during the beta, and we hope you enjoy all the new content! As always, please do send us any bugs you may run into, either here on Steam in our Discussion threads, on Discord or in game using the F1 Bug Report tool!

The Peaceful Wild Is Out Now!
– Mon, Jun 01, 2026 at 04:01:45 AM
Hello Everyone!
We're super excited to announce that we’ve released The Peaceful Wilds Update to you all, here’s a brief overview of the new features and content:
Wild Horse Taming - All those wild horses are ripe for the picking! Try your hand at taming new horses like the true horse whisperer you are!
Peaceful Mode - Not a fan of the survival elements? Tone out some of the challenge with this mode and simply enjoying venturing into the world!
Redeeming Oasis - Take a break from the heat of the sun in the cool waters of the oasis, cancelling heat effects!
Wolf Pack Behaviour Update - Instead of just gunning it for you and your horse, wild wolves will now showcase stalking and pack behaviour!
Now we'll give you a bit more detail on those headlines, then we'll give you the full patch notes! There's also a competition you can join in on, so make sure you read to the end!
Wild Horse Taming Since launch there have been wild horses throughout the world, just begging to be tamed. Up until now, you've not been able to do so, but that ends today! You'll now be able to take part in a new mini game which will allow you to tame those horses, and you'll find that certain horses are more or less likely to appear in different areas of the map, so you'll need to explore to find them all!
Peaceful Mode One of the things which has been clear to us since before Early Access, going back to our Kickstarter, has been that some of you want the experience of playing The Legend of Khiimori, without the stress of worrying about you or your horse being hurt. Now, thanks to Peaceful Mode, you can explore the vast steppes of Mongolia without worrying about the survival elements of the game. Wild Animals won't attack, and your horse won't take damage from being low on food/water etc, though they'll still perform better when you look after them!
Redeeming Oasis The Redeeming Oasis have been added to the desert region of the map, providing a calm spot for you to stop in during your adventures, and if you let your horse have a dip in the water then you'll find that it cancels out the heat effect on your horse!
Wolf Pack Behaviour Update Until now, our wild animal AI has been quite weak, with the animals running straight at you like a furry missile the moment they see you. As of now, that won't be as true, as you'll notice the wolf packs stalking you and surrounding you in a pack before they attack (which also gives you a chance to escape!).

The Daybreak Update Is Out Now!
– Thu, Apr 23, 2026 at 04:26:01 AM
Hello Everyone
Today we're releasing our Daybreak Update live for everyone! You can download it now! In this post we'll be going into a little more detail about them, as well as showing you the Roadmap we have planned for the next few months!
First, the headline features from this patch:
Hot springs - Take a dip into the warm waters to cancel any cold effect of the mountains!
Bandit caches - Find sachets strewn across the world and cut the rope with your arrows! You can even craft a new type of arrow to do so more effectively!
Photo mode - Take screenshots with our in-game photo mode!
Horse Training changes - No longer will you have to torture your horse to improve their skills. A softer approach was added, so check the horse overview!
Dynamic pricing - The Horse Merchant won't get away with paying you pennies for your well-trained horse anymore! Prices will now reflect skill level rather than being set.
Horse droppings - Your player horse becomes a walking producer of dung for crafting animal repellent! This is the drop that keeps on giving.
Our Roadmap
Now that we've covered the main features in the Daybreak Patch, we'd also like to cover what we have planned for the next few months. Please note, this isn't an exhaustive list, and as always with game development, it's always subject to change, but, without further ado, here's our Roadmap for the near future:
As you can see, we've got a lot planned already (we know how excited you all are for the new Horse Taming system!) but this is just the start! We plan on putting out our long term Roadmap in June when the 3rd content update is released, so you'll all have a good idea of our plans for the rest of Early Access!
Training Changes
Here you can see the old training system, alongside the new one we've just introduced! This feature's been prioritised due to the overwhelming feedback that the previous system, which was meant to train your horse when it faced hardship, felt too horrible to your horses, so we have changed it to be much kinder. Let us know what you think of the new system!
Photo Mode
We've added a photo mode to the game so you can take the best screenshots you can! You can access the photomode by activating it in the menu, then pressing the 9 key while in game. There are all sorts of things you can do, from exposure length, filters and all sorts of other things! We'll be hosting screenshot contest in the near future, so make sure you join in!
Bandit Caches
We've alse populated the map with a series of Bandit Caches, which you'll find strung up across the map, waiting for you to find them and shoot them down. We've also introduced a special new arrow type, which will allow you to cut the rope on the bandit caches in one shot (a normal arrow will still work, but it takes 2 shots.) There are over 60 of the caches across the map, so good luck!
Hot Springs
We've also added some Hot Springs to the cold, mountainous areas. These spots of calm amid the tempest of a snowstorm will allow you to rest, water your horse, and most importantly, be able to warm your horse up and remove cold effects!
Horse Poop
Your horses. They eat. They now poop! This provides not only realism, but also a source of animal dung to craft animal repellent pouches!
